Before anyone gets pissed off, I'm making fun of myself.

I am the tone-deaf filker
And I know just who I am:
Another music-milker
In another late-night jam
Tonight I have your wonderment
As I sing my little tune
But I know in my heart
That my favorite art
Of taking some words
And makin' 'em heard
Is not very hard to do.

And I've had to pay my dues:

And I've tried to filk the blues

And I love those Warner sibs

I know they call it dreck,
But it took me an hour
Singin' in the shower

I've sung my songs in Cleveland
They even asked for more
I've made a lot of contacts
They sing things just like me
When we get together
We'll try "Stormy Weather"
With a couple of tries
We might harmonize
But we're all in a different key

I bring to you my songs
I've sweated over the keyboard
But not for very long
I've heard about this "scansion"
Been took to task for rhyme
But if you can't
You just make it slant
Then you sing really fast
Try to get the line past
And then you hum to fill the time

It's an easy little melody
Based on my favorite song
It's a tale in verse
And it gets much worse
Cause I want to make you stay
Just to hear me play
So I made it forty stanzas long

Even my friends could call it shit

Plugging my latest thing
